Baotou Vocational & Technical College is located the largest industrial city of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, the national civilized city -- Baotou. It was established in 1956 and in 1998 was approved by the Ministry of Education to be a vocational college. In 2004 it was identified by the Ministry of Education and other six ministries as one of the Colleges to Develop Nationally Demanded Skilled Workers. And in 2008 it was identified by the National Defense Science and Technology Industry Committee as one of the first batch of training bases for National Defense Science and Technology Industry. In 2008 it was identified by the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Finance as one of the 100 National Model Vocational Colleges. In 2010, the college was named the Excellent Vocational College of College-enterprise Cooperation and Talents Cultivation in National Machinery Industry, the Backbone of the National Machinery Industry Vocational Colleges and the Backbone of Vocational Colleges in National Auto Industry.
